I love summer! I love the sunshine, the warm weather, and the relaxed vibe. Still, nothing is perfect, and there are always things that can be done to make even a good thing better. Here are some really cool summer hacks that will make your summer even more enjoyable.

  1. Dryer sheets repel bugs. If there’s anything that can ruin a perfect summer day it’s insects! If you want to avoid chemical insect repellents, keep the bugs away with dryer sheets.
  2. DIY insect repellent. Or try sticking cloves into a lime for another natural, pleasant-smelling way to keep pests away.
  3. Toothpaste. Dab some toothpaste on an insect bite to help relieve itch.
  4. Baby powder to remove sand. Sprinkle on some baby powder when you leave the beach, and brush the sand off easily.
  5. Remove strings from fresh corn. Brush gently with a soft toothbrush. (A new one, of course, that you can keep in the kitchen for this purpose.)
  6. Protect your phone at the beach or pool. Seal your phone or tablet in a ziploc bag to protect it from water and sand.
  7. Don’t dilute your cold drinks. Freeze coffee or juice in ice cube trays and use them instead of ice cubes so you don’t water down your drink.
  8. Keep your ice cream at the perfect temp. Keep your ice cream in the freezer in a gallon size zip top bag. This will keep it at the perfect temperature for scooping and also prevent freezer burn.
  9. Frozen grapes. Freeze green grapes and use them to keep your white wine chilled. Frozen grapes also make a refreshing, healthy summer snack!

Aren’t these clever? Try them and make the little annoying things about summer go away!
