Hello and welcome to #SpoilYourselfSunday, where we celebrate simple and frugal ways to enjoy a little me-time. If we choose your tip for a feature, we’ll send you a sample from our stash!

Today for #SpoilYourselfSunday, we want to help you solve your season-change skincare and beauty woes. Want to get a facial or treat yourself to a spa day in anticipation of dry skin season? Or maybe you’re aching for a mani-pedi, but trying to save up for the holidays? Or perhaps you can’t even justify buying a nice new bottle of polish to go with your fall wardrobe. Not to worry! We’ve got you covered with these tips for hosting a FREE DIY spa beauty bar!

  • Invite all your friends over for a home spa day, and ask them to bring nail polish, lotions, face masks, or whatever they’re willing to share – kind of like a spa potluck! That way, you can try out new shades of polish or a different facial scrub or hair mask without shelling out major dough at the salon.
  • Better yet, ask everyone to bring a dish so it’s a real potluck! Enjoy your own food and drinks for free in the comfort of your home spa.
  • Don’t forget to put on your favorite movie or a nature sounds Pandora station to get everyone in a relaxing mood.
  • Set up different beauty stations in your home spa – one with a bucket and newspaper or towels for foot soaking and pedicures, one with washcloths and teabags for frugal facials, one with hot towels and essential oils for massages…the possibilities are endless!
  • Give each other mani-pedis so everyone gets to feel pampered!
  • Do your friends’ makeup looks – try that color of lipstick you’ve always wanted to see on them, or glam them up with your own classic smokey eye – just have fun with it and everyone will end up looking fabulous!
  • Swap beauty products so everyone gets to go home with something “new” – you could have everyone place a sample size or used product in a bowl when they come in, and then each person gets to take one item as they leave, just like a goodie bag!
