4 Energy Boosters That AREN’T Coffee

Rolling out of bed every morning is always fun when you have a good reason! It’s important to meet your morning with a ritual. For me, it’s my morning cup of coffee with extra sugar. Ah! What would the morning be without a good ol’ dose of caffeine energy? This has been a daily routine for me since my early age of seven – my great-grandmother would sneak me sips of espresso and I was hooked!

But after depending on the rapid jolt of my daily coffee routine, it was time to take a break and find another way to revamp my energy. Mostly because I noticed how dependent on coffee I became. Headaches would follow my irritability when a coffee cup was missed.

So what can one swap for coffee to feel a burst of energy in the morning? Here are four tried and true energy boosters that helped me cope with my coffee detox:

A Shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey Tonic

So many benefits in one tiny shot! Whether it’s a hangover you need to recover from or simply a quick pick-me-up in the morning, one small shot of this beautiful elixir will have you perked up and ready for the day. With additional raw ingredients like lemon, horseradish, turmeric, and habanero peppers, this tonic goes down easily. It gives a warm feeling and replenishes your energy within a few minutes.

Running

There’s something about taking a few minutes to let yourself roam free. Starting your day with a run is a great way to boost your energy. This continues to be one of the best coffee replacement for me. I feel super energetic throughout my day after I wake up and take a morning run. Perhaps it’s the freedom of letting go and connecting with nature, but I felt so much more confident and happy with myself and my body when I adopted running as a habit.

Lemon Water

With lemon water, you’re not just fueling your body with energy, but you’re detoxifying your skin as well! Packed with an abundance of vitamin C and potassium to boost your immune system, lemon water also helps to stimulate brain and nerve functions – meaning more energy, anti-aging benefits, less stress, clearer skin and a boost of focus! So when life gives you lemons, make sure to serve a slice in your next glass of water.

5-Minute Gratitude Journal

The more you focus on the good in your life, the more intentional and productive you’ll feel at the start of your day. Ever since I started writing in my 5-minute journal, I noticed how increasingly happy I felt throughout my day. When you start your morning counting the beautiful blessings you have, you really don’t have any room for anxiety or stress. Try it! Even if you don’t have the journal, make a mental list of things you’re grateful for and notice the difference of your energy vibes!

While I haven’t completely let go of my coffee fixation, I’ve definitely learned to find my source of energy in other areas that make me feel really good, even when I don’t need to depend on coffee. Have you tried any of these replacements? Let us know what works best for you!
