My schedule is packed full every day- family and work will do that! There are some days when pretty much every minute is accounted for and there isn’t a spare second to be found. Then there are the days that are busy, but with an awkward gap of a few minutes here and there. Which might sound like a good opportunity to fit in another errand, or even… relax a little! The problem is that I always feel like those few minutes are not enough to do anything except make me think that I’m wasting time. I know, I have a problem! But I’ll bet I’m not the only busy woman out there who wants to make every minute count, so for all of us, I’ve made this list of 15 ways to be productive in just a few minutes.

  1. Clear your inbox. Go through all those emails you were saving for when you had time to deal with them, and delete the ones that are just taking up space.
  2. Check your calendar. See that you’re up-to-date with meetings and appointments.
  3. Make appointments. Make that dentist appointment you’ve been meaning to schedule!
  4. Clean out your handbag. How long have you been pushing this off? No better time to do it!
  5. Clean a drawer. See #4.
  6. Clean up your computer files. Get rid of whatever’s unnecessary and make things neat.
  7. Do a quick meditation. Yes, you can actually relax in a few minutes. Do some deep breathing on your own, or find something on YouTube.
  8. Nourish yourself. Have a quick cup of coffee or a healthy snack so you can keep going.
  9. Take a quick walk. This will refresh and invigorate you, and make you feel good about fitting in some physical activity.
  10. Plan meals for the week. Planning meals will help you save time, stress, and money!
  11. Make a phone call. Use those few minutes to catch up with a friend or family member you never get to talk to.
  12. Read something. Find a short article that’s inspiring, educational, or funny- whatever you need at that moment.
  13. Pay some bills. Not fun, but it’s better than letting them pile up.
  14. Clean out the fridge. Time to throw out last week’s leftovers.
  15. Go through the photos on your phone. Clear up some memory by getting rid of the pics you don’t need.

Don’t let gaps in your schedule get you nervous- use them wisely and you’ll feel productive all day!
