As we all know, there’s a lot of enjoyment to be had from eating good food! You know that donut you’ve been waiting to tuck into? And you can never go wrong with pasta. There’s a lot to be said for comfort food and treats, but then there are foods that can make you happy by actually switching on the right hormones and chemicals in your body. Here are seven delicious options:

1. Oatmeal:

For me, oatmeal is a double whammy, since it’s one of my top comfort foods! And the fact that it’s a complex carbohydrate means it also spurs a boost of serotonin- a happy hormone!

2. Eggs:

Eggs are a good source of choline, a nutrient that helps with memory and creativity.

3. Pumpkin seeds:

Believe it or not, nibbling on some toasted pumpkin seeds can sometimes be as satisfying as snacking on chips, but with way more benefit! Talk about comfort food… pumpkin seeds get you magnesium, which is a natural stress reducer.

4. Nuts:

Nuts are high in omega 3 fats, which are essential for brain health and mood. Almonds and walnuts are two of the top contenders.

5. Beans:

Get yourself a boost of serotonin from beans and other legumes. Also a great source of plant-based protein, which will keep you from getting hangry.

6. Seaweed:

Who knew you could get a mood boost from sushi? Seaweed contains iodine, which fights depression. Iodine also helps stabilize your thyroid, which influences energy and mood.

7. Chamomile tea:

Chamomile tea is great to drink before bed since it helps you sleep well, which makes you feel good. It also helps with cognitive function, and when that’s working well, you feel good!
