How amazing would it be if every day was a great hair day? You might think it’s impossible, too good to be true, but it’s not! Great hair every day is within your reach, and you don’t even need expensive hair products or daily salon visits to make it happen. Follow these basic tips for gorgeous hair!

  1. Don’t shampoo too often. Shampooing too frequently will strip the natural oils from your scalp and that’s not good. Wash your hair no more than three times a week for best results, and do not rinse and repeat! That’s a marketing trick to get you to buy more shampoo. If you feel like your hair is too dirty between shampoos, try rinsing with just water and then conditioning.
  2. Use dry shampoo. This is a great alternative to regular shampoo, with the bonus of giving your hair terrific volume.
  3. Know your hair type. Use the products that are designed to work best with your hair.
  4. Avoid heat styling. Keep blow drying, flat ironing, and other heated tools to a minimum. If you must use them, use spray-in heat protection before.
  5. Use conditioner. To maintain healthy hair and scalp it’s essential to condition every time you shampoo.
  6. Stick with products that work. You might have heard that it’s best to switch up your hair products regularly, but that’s not necessarily true. If something works, stick with it.
  7. Diet. What you put into your body plays an important role in what you see on the outside. Make sure your diet diet includes iron, zinc, protein, and omega-3 fats to stimulate hair follicle growth. And drink lots of water.
  8. Prevent sun damage. If you’ll be out in the sun, use leave-in conditioner and wear a hat.
  9. Don’t yank at knots. Untangle snarls gently, combing up from bottom to top.
  10. Get regular trims. Even if you have a long hairstyle, or you’re growing out your hair, regular trims will keep your hair healthy and looking its best.
  11. Use warm, not hot water. This will help prevent damage.
  12. Clean your brushes. Regularly pull out the hair that gets stuck in your brush, and once a month, wash with warm water and a little bit of shampoo.
  13. Deep clean. Once a week add a tablespoon of baking soda to your shampoo to deep clean your hair and remove product build-up.
  14. Be gentle with wet hair. Wet hair is the most vulnerable to damage, so don’t scrub hard when you shampoo or rub too roughly with a towel. Instead of brushing, use a wide-tooth comb use a wide-tooth comb when your hair is wet.

Pretty simple, right? Follow these tips and before you know it you’ll be swinging your hair around like a model in a shampoo commercial!
